So clearly I can’t stop planning for Autumn and Winter. Seriously I keep seeing things that I want/need to own. Why is there so much great stuff in the shops and why haven’t I won the lottery so that I can treat myself? Maybe I should just not go near shops or online at all and then I wouldn’t see all these things. But then life would be boring and it’s nice to dream and look at even if you can’t do anything more than give each item a quick stroke or longing look before walking past. On the plus side it is not too long now until Christmas so at least when people ask me what I want I will have a ready made list (or two) to go to! Anyway here’s my latest loves, be warned it’s highly likely that you will see a lot more of these over the coming months, I girl can but dream right!
Fluffy socks and blankets, plus fairisle knits? I’ve found my own little piece of heaven right here in this post. Isn’t that what the cold weather is all about? Although I’m not sure I would ever spend £25 on a pair of socks. It may be time to fetch out the knitting needles and get practicing my cable.
Also I am so tempted by the boots, I’ve been searching for the perfect pair for ages and ages and then I found these and they fit perfectly around the calves – miracles of miracles. But can I really spend £99 on boots? I know that so reasonable for riding boots but I still sort of balk at that price tag. Hmmm, watch this space because honestly these are my favourite thing on this whole board of beautiful things.
Okay one final thing about these lovely things. The ring – the Kate Spade ring. I am obsessed with it and yes while it isn’t officially autumnal or wintery (yes, I know that#s not a real word) I love love love it. It’s an obsession. Hence the inclusion. What can I say, I’m a sucker for shiny things with bows! Plus I want a ring for my middle finger on my left hand and this just grabbed my attention straight away. This is definitely making it’s way onto my Christmas list.
What bits and bobs have you all got your eye on? Tell me please, although don’t make them too lovely otherwise I will need them too!
So now that we are well into Autumn, I thought I’d share with you exactly what I’m doing with this season. Basically unless I’m at work or training for this dreaded 10km I can be found in one place doing one thing. Yep as this picture shows, I am taking full advantage of Autumn and curling up on the sofa under a warm blanket with my Kindle and a big mug of coffee (or hot chocolate). Just to enhance the season even more I have also been turning on my fairy lights which look so good inside big frosted vases, oh yes and burning seasonal candles. You can’t beat the smell of cinnamon, well you can but there’s no way I can be baking bread all day every day – mainly because I’d then eat it all and end up twice my size which means I’d never be able to move from the sofa again!
Tonight I wanted to talk about my favourite winter warmers, you know what I’m talking about – those meals that keep you cosy and warm in the winter months and the drinks that literally warm you to the bone. So here are my favourites:
1. Starbucks Gingerbread Latte – I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before, but I’m not a fan of coffee, in fact, before a couple of weeks ago I actually hated anything coffee related. I swear I could tell if even one grain had been used in anything that I was near. But then I discovered the gloriousness that is the Starbucks Gingerbread Latte. Oh man, how I love the red cups. I tried one and fell in love, it’s like Christmas in a drink. Amazing! 2. Covent Garden Chicken Biryani Soup – I love soup, I love that it comes in so many different flavours, that it’s easy to cook and is always filling. Right now my favourite flavour is Covent Garden’s Chicken Biryani soup. It’s got spinach, chicken, lentils and spices and the smell whilst cooking is just divine.
3. Bean chilli baked potatoes – Another warm quick meal that is fast becoming my go to meal. Everyone loves a baked potato right, but with this topping it become an even better meal. simply take a can of beans or lentils and a can of tinned tomatoes with some cayenne pepper and a bit of chilli flakes. Cook these together to thicken and then spoon over the the baked potato – heaven on a plate!
4. Apple Crumble – Is there a better winter pudding? I don’t think so. Give me a bowl of this and some cold custard and I’m a happy bunny. 5. Homemade hot chocolate with mini marshmallows – My favourite thing to do is to light some Christmas scented candles, settle down on the sofa with a good book and sip one of these. Perfect.
Does anyone else have any favourites winter warmers?
I feel like I’m always blogging about the cold weather, so I must apologise. It’s just that I seem to be so cold all the time at the moment. Take right now for instance, the heating is on, I’m wearing a hoodie and slippers and I’m still cold. Now I’m going to blame my slippers for this – really there’s no sensible reason why I am, but that’s just the mood I’m in today. But also my slippers are failing me, they are literally falling apart as I walk and I fear they may soon have to be replaced. Twelve months ago my lovely slippers were brand spanking new in their fluffy woolliness, the grey cabled knit boots, with brown buttons were a marvellous sight to behold when I opened the parcel on Christmas day. But sadly, it doesn’t look like they will make it to Christmas this year. This has lead me to scouring shops and online to find an equally gorgeous new pair to keep my tootsies warm and cosy. So here are my favourites so far…
Okay so clearly I’m all about the knitted boot when it comes to finding slippers! And pom poms! I’m especially loving the red and white Christmas inspired fairisle pair. And how cute are the penguins? I couldn’t resist them, they may not be the ones that I would choose to buy, but they are so adorable that they definitely deserved a place on my final list.
The only question now is which ones to go for and do I treat myself now or add them to my Christmas list?
